    2-hr OGTT worries

Hi all, Thanks for all your encouraging words. Apparently I was worrying for nothing. The test went just fine and I didn't have any reactive hypoglycemia. In fact, my test came back normal. My fasting was slightly above normal at 115 (would've liked to see that a bit lower), but at least my...

    2-hr OGTT worries

Thanks everyone. I bought a puzzle book tonight so I can keep my mind off the test. I will let them know my concerns ahead of time, so hopefully all will be perfectly fine. Do the results take long to come back?

    2-hr OGTT worries

Thanks. One other question....do you know your results as you do the test (ie. Finger prick) or do they draw blood and send it to the lab (ie. Tube of blood)?

    2-hr OGTT worries

Hi, I know a 2-hr OGTT test is common for us CFers to have to go through. After convincing my doc that I think my sugars have been off, he ordered me one. However, I'm totally scared to take the test! Based on the values I've gotten at home on my glucose monitor and my symptoms, I know that...

crazy sugars and a little frightened

Tested my sugars throughout the day today and they were pretty darn good. I was conscious about my intake and stayed away from a lot of sugar throughout the morning hours and kept it high-protein. It was terrific. My sugars have been between 104 and 128 all day, even post-meals. I think I...

crazy sugars and a little frightened

Thank you all so much. I had no idea you could get testing supplies without an Rx. I just went out and bought everything and tested my first 2-hr post just to see and it was 164. So not terrible but a little elevated. I will start testing frequently tomorrow and keeping a log. My A1C last year...

crazy sugars and a little frightened

No monitor at home. Doctor said insurance won't cover it without a diabetes diagnosis.

crazy sugars and a little frightened

Hi, I haven't been diagnosed with CFRD yet, but I'm pretty sure I've got something going on. Most mornings I deal with hypoglycemia 1-1/2 hrs after breakfast, so I try very hard to eat a low-sugar, high-protein meal first thing and then also eat a second breakfast in between that and lunch...

sinus problems - did anything help?

Thanks all! I do not have polyps yet, so that is at least one good thing. I just know a have a bunch of gunk and inflammation up there. Mornings seem to be the worst part of my day where I just feel downright crappy from them (sort of dizzy, headache/pressure, etc). Some days all I want is...

sinus problems - did anything help?

Hi, My sinuses have never been an issue until last fall. Ever since then I've been dealing with a lot of sinus pressure/headaches, dizziness, drainage, blurred vision, nausea, and fatigue. I have tried sinus rinses, which has not helped a lot. My ENT says next step is antibiotic washes...

    sinusitis?

Glad to know I'm not the only one who feels like it's a "couch day". That's all I feel like I can do sometimes is just lay around until the dizziness/nausea passes. Today was my first bad day since I went to the ER. Felt cruddy again, lots of drainage (seriously, gross stuff). My ENT did...

    sinusitis?

Hi Jenny - Thanks for the info. That is crazy how your daughter had polyps like that! That's terrible. My ENT sees a ton of CF patients and is very familiar with it. He is seeing me in a few weeks for a follow-up to see if my symptoms are any better. If my vision gets worse, I will...

Vinegar in sinus saline rinses ?!

Huh, that is interesting. I've been wondering what other ENT's have suggested in sinus rinses, as mine has recommended Johnson's baby shampoo twice a week in mine to break down the biofilm that CFers have. I wonder what the objective of vinegar is?

    sinusitis?

Thanks for the responses. I've been feeling good since I last posted. But that tends to be the pattern - a couple good days and then a bad one. I'm hoping once winter hits in the Midwest here, I will start to feel better. Glad these symptoms aren't just in my head (well, they are, but you...

    sinusitis?

Thanks guys. I can't believe how tired I am and how crappy I feel. This is kicking my butt worse than my lungs ever have (which I guess is a good thing). I put in a call to my ENT after leaving the ER today and he should give me a call tomorrow. I'm hoping he at least puts me on an...

    sinusitis?

Hi everyone, Ever since Labor Day I've been feeling cruddy off and on. Lots of sinus drainage, nausea, headaches, weakness, faint feeling, and blurry vision. CF doc thought it might be blood pressure or sinuses, so he sent me to an ENT. The ENT started me on sinus irritations. Finally this...

what machine should I get? and where?

Hi, I finally got an Rx for a new neb compressor. Now I just don't know which one to get! Does anyone have any recommendations on a small, quiet compressor? I've been using a Pari device that keeps dying me every year, so I need something that's going to last. But I like the portability of...

Low blood sugars 2 hrs after tube feeds

Hi, I know that rebound hypoglycemia is very common in CF, where the blood sugars drop about 2 hrs after eating. I am not sure how to fix that issue with tube feedings though, other than to make sure something gets ingested about 1-1/2 to 2 hrs afterwards to keep his blood sugars stable.

    Extra Altera Nebulizer Hand Set

I also get a complimentary handset with every order of Cayston. It is how the program works at my pharmacy (IV Solutions). But I'm sure you can either order another one or have your doctor write a script for one through your pharmacy if you don't get the complimentary ones.
