    Hill Rom VEST died :(

So glad to hear you'll be getting a new vest so quickly. Mine has been acting funky for the past several months - just sort of losing it's pressure intermittently during a treatment. So that's good to know they can be replaced if they break!

    girls onlyy please!!

It's true, it's usually thicker than a non-CF woman. I remember when I was getting IUI and the nurse said, "Oh my, you are definitely ovulating - your cervical mucus is ridiculously thick!" She apparently didn't read my chart about the CF and/or didn't know about it, so that just confirmed to...

    Are you pregnant?

I delivered naturally and it went picture-perfect! I went into the hospital on a Sunday evening expecting to be induced (for a pregnancy-related rash I had) the next morning. However, I started cramping a little in the middle of the night and my nurse did not think it was actual contractions...

    Adoption

I have a FB friend who has CF who just adopted - not sure if her health was an issue in the process, but she was obviously able to adopt, which is great!

    irregular/regular periods

Yes, I believe this is true. I think it's usually due to the fact that a lot of CFers are malnourished/underweight, which tends to alter a woman's periods. For me, I started quite late (I think I was 16 yrs old) and was quite skinny at that age. Even when I did get my periods, they were very...

What to do between rounds of tobi?

I am the same way - I cannot go without anything or else I get junky right away. Because I cannot tolerate Colistin, my doctor let me do Tobi in a cycle of 3 weeks on/1 week off (which is obviously not a traditional treatment). That way by the time the week off was over, I was definitely...

    Cayston Finger Slicing Club

Hahaha! Count me in the club <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> I thought I was the only one! I think they need to make the vials a little easier for us because those vials are sharp (it's almost like a miniature version of the top of an aluminum can). I have been on...

what to use to soothe irritated airways

Tobi can be extremely irritating to the lungs/throat and I had a hard time with it as well. Definitely see if compounded tobramycin via the eFlow is an option (as stated above). I have a lot more tolerance for that than I do with Tobi, plus I think it works a ton better! Good luck!

How far do you travel to get to your clinic?

I drive 3-1/2 hrs to my clinic, which is in another state. I always thought I was an oddity driving so far, but I guess I'm not!

Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hosp, Cleveland OH

Hi Erin - I have been going to RB&C since I was born and have had nothing but WONDERFUL experiences there. Having said that, I never had Dr. S. I realize he is a very "wise" doctor and has been around the block more than a few times, but I have heard similar complaints about him from my...
