I like SD as a person and value some of his opinions. When his views are different than mine, I do what I do with anyone else on here...I dont read it or reply to it.
As far as the birthday thing, I also think it should be on th OT...but hey, shouldnt we all be glad someone with C/F made it to another birthday?

No Risa, that is not the post. The post was specific about the birthdays. It has been suggested to ignore the b-day posts, but that was what I meant--I was raised that you don't bring food out and eat in front of your friend--that is rude. Therefore, I wouldn't wish someone a birthday wish and ignore the others. I know its automatic--obviously. But I thought it was going on the calendar we see on our blog, when I signed up. The main thing is that I didn't see that the SD post was offensive, and all of a sudden it was gone. But I have been wrong once or twice in my life, so I could "possibly" be wrong about this. The post was only on for a little while, so I can't remember it that well. I too, am glad that the forum is monitored. I don't want to go back to the "mean" posts like we had before.

You guys are right that we should be glad for every birthday a cfr has. I truly am. I guess I'll have to get over the feeling of being rude, if I say happy birthday differently for someone I know, as opposed to someone I don't know.

I don't know what happened to sean's post and I didn't see it....but as for the birthdays they are eventually going to have to put them into a "todays birthdays" sticky or something, because at some stage there will so many birthdays that the whole first page of the adults forum will be taken up with b'days.

It might sound a little harsh or something, but really, no-one is all that interested in someones birthday if they don't have some sort of connection with that individual...

Maybe if they could come up with a box to check that puts YOUR personal relevance to this site when you add your birthday....for example, if you are a partner of a CF then your birthday gets anonunced in the partners section, if you are a transplant then the same, adults with CF then the same etc etc...nominate to where you want it announced...but not to the "adults" forum...make it specific...my thoughts anyway.

I saw it and didn't see anything offensive at all in it. He was just voicing his opinion in a matter of fact way.

I don't mind seeing birthdays, or someone is in hospital, ect., things like that are relevant so I think they should be part of adult forum, but Pete's right, soon we'll have whole first page taken up with birthday salutations. I just wondered why SD's post was eliminated and censored so severely. But I don't know what guidelines had been laid down for him to get back in forum. . . I certainly hope this doesn't mean he was kicked out again.

About the birthdays, I think its rather annoying. Don't get me wrong, CFers having birthdays is a good thing, but I really don't want to have it shoved in my face first thing when I open the forum page. Ignoring normal posts if I don't want to read them is fine, but when there's five and six and seven birthday announcements slapped up at the top, its a pain to have to try and find the actual posts beneath them. I don't reply to birthday posts because I don't want to feel obligated, as someone else mentioned, to say happy birthday to everyone or no one at all (especially when I don't know who half of these people are). I think birthday annoncements should be sent to the PM boxes of people who sign up as wanting to hear about them. That makes a lot more sense to me then clogging up the main forum.

As for SD, if the admins are censoring his posts, there's something very wrong with that. He has as much right to post whatever he wants on this forum as the rest of us. Just because he isn't afraid to speak his mind, he gets "watched"? I respect anyone that says what they truly feel, period. Therefore, I respect SD. If he really is being censored here, I would be completely disgusted.

I never saw SD post either, I would have to agree with Terri though. Except I dont mind seeing the birthdays in the adult section, I agree with Diane on that one. I would hope that SD isnt being censored cause that would make me upset cause he is entitled to his own opionion just like anyone else here.
