So, the gene test came back. Single gene mutation IDEF508, which looks like one of the most typical ones. A few days ago talked to a CF doctor who predicted this to a T: said one would probably be found (a more typical one) and the other wont... think he said because I'm a milder variety. So, clear lung xray, excellent breathing test, but a history of mysterious episodes - easily overheating and heart palpatations while exerting, passing out in gym class, constant thirst, diabetic-like shakes/weakness, lots of colds and lung infections growing up, burning lungs during exercise. 25 years of knowing something was really wrong and doctors shrugging their shoulders. Finally age 36 they find missing vas def so they finally suspect CF. Wow.

What to say---guess you are relieved to finally know that there is a name for the symptons you've been having. I'm sorry you have to join our little clan here, but we are a great group, aren't we? It's been nice getting to know you, and I'm glad you're guessing is finally over.

I just replied to you in the other thread and then read this. So is it a Cf diagnosis or not? I had heard that some male carriers can have an absent vas deferns - so I wonder if the theory on that is that carriers can have it or that these men (you being one of them) actually just have such rare mutations that the second mutation hasn't yet been found? Interesting. I hate to say welcome to the club or anything like that, seeing as no one really wants to get in.

Thank you.

Now I just have to figure out the constant head pain/pressure and eye floaters/pain/problems that started suddenly about 2 years ago. My lifelong issues are all solid with CF, but these new things don't seem to have a simple solid connection w/ CF. I need to figure out if it's related or seperate.
