Hi Everyone,
I am fairly new to this forum and if this is not the appropriate place to post or should not be posted at all please move or remove it.
I do not know if others are aware of this Policy from Physicians Mutual <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.physiciansmutual.com/products/hospitalization_p610/index.html">Physycians Mutual Hospitalization Insurance</a>
My parents started the policy for me when I was first diagnosed and I have kept it up as an adult since I find it helpful.
Let me explain a bit about it:
If you have a pre-existinging condition they require you to have the policy for one year before they will start paying out.
Everytime you go to the ER, have a PICC line placed (or any surgery), have a hospital stay etc they will pay you. For example if you go to the ER they give you $100.00 dollars, if you have a PICC placed they pay you $100.00 dollars. If you have a Hospital stay they will pay you $75.00 a day (after staying in the hospital for x amount of days you require rest at home or additional care at home they will give you $35.00 a day up to the number of days you were in the hospital).
The reason my parents got the policy was to persuade me to go into the Hospital when I needed treatments by giving me the money after the stay. I find this policy very helpful in covering deductibles or other expenses that I incur.
The policy for me (not sure if it varies) is about $400.00 per year and there have been years when I did not make back my $400.00 but overall I have considerably more than recovered what I paid in to them. They are also very quick with responding to the claims. I fax them my paperwork (cover note of when and where I was in the hospital and a copy of my admission paperwork or proceedure paperwork 2-3 pages) and have my check in the mailbox in 3-5 days.
Btw, I am in no way affiliated with them I just wanted to share something with everyone that has been helpful to me.
