breathing in mountains

I've been up top of the Swiss alps with no problems in 1999. My FEV1 was 75% and my O2 sat was 98%. I didn't feel short of breath or have any other signs of altitude sickness. The advice of checking on her sats and if she would de-sat is a good idea.

I have been in the Swiss Alps, highest mountain we got up was the Titlis. I got a headache instantly and we went down again fast, with the next elevator that came i think. Though i know i didn't mind the headache cause it was great to be up there! The last lift went as high as 3300 meter i think! And the view was brilliant.

I don't know what my pft's and sats were. It was a long time ago when i was about 6 or 7 or something. Though i think my pft's and sats weren't that high..

I would really recomment your daughter to go there if she can.

I live just on the outskirts of the rocky moutains and we go up a couple times a year during the summer to picnic and hike. The only time I had problems was when we went up while I was having lung problems (infection and just started a dose of tobi). I was dizzy and found myself breathing pretty shallow.

Usually when we go up to hike I do really well (a bit more out of breath but that could be due to try to keep up with the rest of the hikers). I just drink a LOT of water and pace myself (walk with the slower hikers).

Since we moved to the higher altitude from the "flat land" and my have lungs felt better (don't feel like I am breathing all that wet humdity).

I went to the top of Mount Titlis as well in 1989. My FEV1 was higher then, but I had no problems with breathing whatsoever. But everyone's different...
