Just be open. If you are around someone and start coughing, use that as an opening. Say something like, "this CF is getting to me." Then they will either ask or you can explain. Hope this helps a little. Eric

Just curious, I love golf. PLayed for my high school when I was in good health and played 3-4 times a week until Cepacia got me. I still go about once a week, but I had to cut down to 9 holes instead of 18. Any other duffers out there? If not, what do you like doing?

Iwas in th ICU for an unrelated problem and had a bleed and I vomitted 4 liters of blood. Thought I was dead. Got a transfusion and got to eat an endoscope for a snack( LOL) to get the bleed banded. Scariest moment of my life. I hate this part of CF the most I think. An all around scary...

Get some alchohol prep pads and wipe the end off before you use the rest. It will be fine. I get mine but I have to mix it all myself and keep it in a huge and I mean huge syringe. I have to mix 30ml at a time and only use it as needed so I have gone several days with it in the syringe...

I notice within 2-4 weeks I am back to being junky again. Now I don't always feel "bad", but I am more congested within that time. I also have B Cepacia too so that may effect it also.

Boost Plus, I swear by them. Oh and my mom made me drink Ensure at school, and I HATED it so I ended up throwing them away. Maybe you should let her go until right after school. I would have loved that.

Also, have you looked into the transplant center in Pittsburgh? I also have B Cepacia and when I was considering a transplant that was where I was told I would most likely get the best care. Surely my doctor told me this knowing the Cepacia factors. Eric

Talk to the person who does your breathing test at clinic and they should be able to arrange it for you. I went to Paris and my lady at clinic arranged everything. Be prepared because the O2 cylinder will look like a hot water heater. LOL
