Maybe you should have an allergies check done.

because some foods can cause asthma like symptoms. for me it's tomatoes

Hi Brittani, I definitely feel wheezy and tight in the chest after having too much dairy. I will only feel tight in the chest after eating if I ate way too much. For me, the dairy can produce extra mucas, and the eating too much - well there just isn't enough space I guess.

I get this too sometimes like when I eat pasta I believe. I thought it might possibly be an allergy, but have never really mentioned it or done anything about it though so I dont know for sure. I notice thicker mucus also when I eat too much dairy sometimes.

Hey there,

Some of what you described sounded like a food allergy. I know for me I have developed a Shrimp allergy and also an allergy to some other random shellfish and stuff like escargot (bummer !).

I know for me with shrimp I start out kind of itchy on my face and then I start to get tight in my throat and chest. I take a benadryl and all is well. As for others - like escargot - I just get the urge to cough ALOT. It isn't my normal gunky cough though it is a dry wheezy kind of cough. That I just felt "odd" after eating the escargo - I took benadryl with this as well and within about 30 minutes the coughing subsided and I felt better (tired but better).

I have gotten the same thing with Milk or any other dairy/milk based product really - ice cream and such. I will get gunky and cough alot more. One thing I have found is that when I tried Soy Milk - (Silk) - I did not get this gunkiness. I know Soy milk is expensive in comparison but it may be something worth trying for you. I know for me I intend to get it and drink it when I am able to - it is worth the extra money to not be hacking every time I drink milk.

I hope you get it all worked out I would look into allergies too cause ALOT of the foods you mentioned are pretty common for people to have allergies too - nuts, peanuts, shellfish and dairy.

Take Care and Hope you get it worked out.
