Sorry to hear about the lock up.

I usually bring books and games and my laptop. I try not to watch too much TV but that is always a possibility too. I had an exercise bike in my room last time so I used that alot with my iPod. It would take up alot of time. Plus with all the RTs coming and going and the ivs I didn't have alot of "free" time to move around the floor. Vistors always helped so hopefully your family and friends can come down.

Good luck!

My doctor told my home health nurse that I have to stay home for about a 4 weeks. Becuase of all the germs and junk out there. and when I do go out I have to put on a mask. Today my mom and I are just going to take a car ride and we will to stoping at a drive-thru for a high cal lunch. I been losing allot of weight. So when I am in the hospital for lock-ups I sleep allot becuase I am so sick feeling when I am in that I just don't want to do anything eles. But sometimes I go down my phone list and call my friends and family. watch the cars and people from the 5rh floor. Sometimes I see the the moon out the window.

And talk with the RT's when it time for my treatments. I never walk the halls with out a mask on. sometimes I bring books and markers becuase I love to make pics.

I am another one who is active and LOVES my freedom to move about at will, so i completely understand your concerns about being locked up. I do home iv's so i dont go in the hospital unless its for something serious ( hemoptysis). However when i am in there, i always ask to go to physical therapy to walk on the treadmill, i take walks in the hallway several times a day, go down to the gift shop, anything to get me out of the room. I hate being cooped up in one place for long so whatever gets me out of the room and active makes me happy. I also make my own bed while i'm in there, gives me something to do and i can make it the way i like. Maybe you can start the iv in the hospital for a few days and get an "early release" and finish the course at home ? Either way, Good Luck and i hope you feel better soon <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
