Pot brownies

Ok, so right now I am trying to gain weight. I have smoked pot once or twice, stupidly years ago, but other times I have eaten pot brownies. All times I have experienced, like most people, ravenous hunger!! I was thinking and i was wondering if eating them might help me gain weight. Like I said, I get so I could eat anything in sight, whereas throughout the day I have an appetite, but get full really fast and am not eating enough to pack on the pounds.

I was wondering, and I am going to ask my doctor about this but she is away until monday, if you guys think there would be any medical downsides to consuming said brownies. obviously the brain cell thing....but i mean, when you smoke pot, it hurts your lungs, but otherwise....i cant imagine that it would do anything to adversely effect my CF...right? After all, they let cancer patients smoke it, people with glaucoma, and that is SMOKING it.

any thoughts?

Not something I would condone, but if your doctor says it's okay, then I guess there isn't a problem. People have posted about this before and I don't remember them saying their doctors had a problem with it, anyway.

I was wondering this also. When I was young & foolish I smoked it, but I wouldnt do that now. I am a little concerned of the "feeling" that you get. It has been so long that I'm not sure I would respond well to it. My sister in law makes them & told me next time she does that I can try it in a safe place to see waht happens. Should that occur...I will let you know the outcome!

I would say there's nothing wrong with eating pot brownies, but if your doctor says it's okay, they may as well prescribe a THC pill to you. I believe the specific name of the medication is Marinol. They are prescribed as pain killers and as appetite enhancers and there are many CF patients from my clinic that are on them. I've had them a few times and they definitely give you the munchies.

Ask your doc about that. It's a legal and much easier way to get the same affect.

I have eaten them several times , always gaining a HUGE appetite. I mentioned it to my social worker and doc and they didn't condone it for the "legality" of it but said if it gives appetite then go for it. A better way is to make Pot butter then use that in most anything you cook that calls for butter. Just be sure and not let anyone who may need to take a drug test at his/her work eat it.
The only down side I saw was I got sleepy and I have enough difficulty with being tired already.

Whew, just make sure whoever makes them knows what they are doing. Years ago, at CF camp of all places, I tried a couple of bites from some that were being passed around and nearly came out of my skin over the next 6-8 hours. I could barely see my eyes dilated so much; my throat was so dry I could hardly swallow. I thought I'd been poisoned. I had to have a friend walk me back to my cabin and sit with me for the next six hours; I couldn't even stand up... I had eaten Pot brownies before with just the usual desired affects....:^) This batch was definitely an overdose....:^)

When Emily goes on Meropenem, she gets really nauseated all the time, so her aunt offered her some "fun" brownies and that really helped her with the nausea and her appetite. Plus she had a little fun on the side. She tried smoking it a couple of times and knew that just wasn't the right thing for her, but brownies definitely help when the appetite needs to be enhanced !! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

one downside is the cost of the pills, though. it is much cheaper to buy an eighth or an ounce of weed than it is to buy the pills...

related to what what steve said, though, at least with the pills you don't have to worry about quality control. when you buy pot off the street, you don't necessarily know what else is in it. I say go the legal route; it's much more safe.

There is a pill called Marinol (sp?) that has the same effect as in munchies, but without the euphoric feeling. They weren't too expensive I think, but were covered by insurance anyway.
