Nail pseudomonas risk?

Hi All - looking for some advice here. I don't have CF but am shortly to go on vacation and sharing a bathroom with a friend with CF. I have a nail infection - I think it's pseudomonas
(Have sent a nail clipping for testing to confirm)

Could this be a health risk to my friend? Is it reasonable for me to ask him to ask his Dr what (if any) measures I need to take to avoid passing this on?

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this for me

SunnyLon,

Pseudomonous what? The number of bacterial species and sub species within the Genus Pseudomonous is pretty high and just a few would be a concern for a CFer. If you are having a clipping analyzed you will be in the clear or have a problem.

The highest risk is your footwear including socks. Bacteria will accumulate and can become air born easily compared to the bacteria on your feet. Keeping soiled socks and shoes in zip lock bags and wearing shower klogs to, in and out of the shower and switch to closed toe slippers is adequate protection. If indeed you have Pseudomonous a. it will be prudent to keep a bottle of hand sanitizer handy. Or, get a suite with a double bath.

Good luck, keep us posted.
