Hi Kelly,
You've already have gotten some really great tips above. I just would like to add one of perspective. I used to have an internist that I would call Dr. Doom. If he saw some small variance in my blood tests, he'd send me to an hemotogist/oncologist. I once had a neck pain, he rushed me down the hall to a neurologist to rule out meniningitis. I had 2 infections in a row once and he gave me an Aids test. He never would tell me anything positive and in fact would always scare me half to death.
My current doctor's attitude is that there is always something you can do to help someone. She said even giving patients just psychological help, can help them live so much longer and better.
So, there is always something that you can do to help some part of your illness. Depression actually changes T cells (the fighter cells) that make them less capable of fighting. So although you are going through a rough patch, take the above posters advice. Gear up to fight the little buggers that are making you sick.
Read this site for tips on how to improve your condition. Think of people like Lance Armstrong
who had cancer that spread to his brain. Not only did he beat it, he won the Tour De France. Several times.
