Hi Tonya,
Ask your CF Center what the recommend you bring, because based on the responses, every hospital is different. I agree with Lauren, one day's worth of meds is good because there's a lot of sitting and waiting during that first 24 hours. Keep a bottle of enzymes for your room, it's hard to get them when you need a snack sometimes.
I always bring my own vest because I like it better than the hospital disposable vests. That's the only "equipment" I bring. I've also been admitted once when there were so many CFers there was no vest for me! I had to use IPV instead. My hospital doesn't do manual CPT unless you ask for it.
I also pack the following:
Lysol Wipes to disinfect the whole room (call buttons, TV remote and door knobs for sure!)
Finger pricker (if Andrew is diabetic, the finger pricker in his accu check kit is easier on the fingers than the disposable hospital pricker.)
Favorite snacks
t-shirts, shorts and underwear
one outfit for leaving hospital grounds. (so I can look normal if I go out for lunch!)
toiletries (including soap, hospital grade = not so fun.)
own pillows with bright color pillow cases - hospital pillow are terrible! and the bright colors so they don't get thrown in the hospital laundry.
extra pillow cases so they stay fresh every few days
facial washcloths for the shower (the hospital grade are scratchy)
laptop
modem to get online (my hospital doesn't have WiFi)
movies
cell phone
I try and keep it minimal, but enough to entertain me and make me feel comfortable.
