Chiropracter??

Question..... I have a friend who has a child with an illness totally different from CF, her physician recommended taking her daughter to a chiropracter to see if they could get any positive results from it. She so far has done a lot better since seeing him. The same day she went we were thinking that my daughter was going to be admitted so she spoke to the chiropracter about Holly, the guy said he has a patient with CF that has seen dramatic improvement since being his patient so the doctor is interested in Holly & has offered to see her for free. It isn't accupuncture, I haven't really gotten into detail with the chiropracter yet but I have a meeting with him on Monday.....

My question is this, has anyone else ever heard of this or seen any positives or negatives from it?

i posted in the families section but no one has replied....please if anyone has heard of this reply

I have heard of this. When I was doing research on cf, I ran across an article on the web about a young man (I believe his name was Steven) who was very sick from CF and had a turnaround after receiving chiropractic care. You could try googling cf and chiroprator and see if you can find it.

I've gone to the chiropracter since I was 19. I go approx once every 4-6 wks but when I've had a problem I've gone as often as 2-3 times a week. I find it helps me to feel like I am using my whole lungs and ribcage to breath which probably helps me clear more mucus. As a teen I had lower back pain. Now I rarely ever have spinal pain. Chiro has made me much more aware of my body. I also have never experienced CF related arthritis. When I've tried going without chiropractic I loose lung function. In the last 13 years I've only slide from 73 down to 67% which I think is pretty good. Most of that was due to a pneumonia 12 years ago that dropped me 15 percent temporarily. It is not unusual for coughing to displace a rib. In fact I have one permanently out a little bit by my sternum. I'm imagining this happened when I was a kid because by the time I was 19 it was already fused. With as active as kids are and as much as they are falling and bumping into things not to mention how tramatic birth is on the body I think it's a good idea for kids to be checked out. I don't think they need to go very often...like every 6 months just to asssure things are put in place occasionally as they grow. Although I've heard over the years with going to many different chiros in different states that adjustments work wonders on kids with recurring ear infections. I'd avoid any chiro that uses activator only or even primarily. Also choose a chiro that has been out of school for at least 10 years. Sometimes you have to go to more than one before finding the best. I have learned to wait a little bit and get a recommendation for the best in town. It's worth it. The best spend more time with you and work on pressure points and removing muscular knots (similar to massage) in order to help you stay aligned longer.

I go to a chiropractor 2-3 times a week. I am 26 and have Cf. I love it!! It helps me so much i honestly dont know what i would do without him. My daughter also goes and she is 15 months, she doesnt have Cf but has been adjusted since a few hour old. She is only seen every other week or so. He is a more natural kind of chiro and has got me started on supplements and things that help with my Cf. When your spine is out in certain places its because those organs are having trouble functioning. Crazy how my upper back and shoulders are always out because they control my lungs and from coughing. I would suggest this to anyone having problems with there body. Make sure the Chiro is more natural and knows about Cf, or is willing to look it up if he knows nothing.
