caitlin,

i might be able to help you. can you tell me more specifically what the doctor prescribed them for? i mean, is it specifically for lung issues, or over all health and immunity? something else?

i'll see if i can find out for you...

I tried some herbs and had a horrible reaction that put me in the ER, the combo I was given reacted to some of my CF meds. Needless to say I have a bad taste in my mouth about these chinese herbs etc. My CF Doc said next time run them by her first. Also, Acupuncture did nothing for me, but some swear by it. Just be careful.

Even if you are healthy with cf taking herbs can be dangerous. When taking herbs with medications ouch. If you do a search on surgery and herbs, you need to avoid taking herbs for a week before surgery.

After my transplant, I went to an acupuncturist who studied in china and she practiced there as well. she was very talented but gave me an herb and it had moc wong (do not know how to spell this name). My heart started to race big time. Thankfully, I stopped immediately. I never went back to her. She was great though but I lost trust in her.

If you want to try an herb, I would try one at a time. Never combine them. The teas taste bitter. That is the idea around chinese medicine. Some herbs are bitter for a reason.

ok- thanks for your responses.

catboogie : the two lists above are the ingredient lists of two separate boxes she gave me. so she did not give me straight herbs of anything. rather they are tablets that i am supposed to take.

i looked up as many ingredients aas i could find info on--- most seemed to relate to "heart lung and spleen" and related to regulating palpitations / rapid pulse (which i have) and lung health.

i dont know if i should be concerned about foxglov.

PrincessKC---- could you remember what you were on at all? Also what CF meds you were on? That would be really helpful, otherwise I dont want to be scared away, we might be on completely different things you know.

currently I am on Zyrtec, Zithromax, Albuteral, Prilosec, Vitamins E C K, Elderberry Extract Capsules.

The three spots the woman worked on were directly related to lungs, coughing, bronchitis, and productive cough versus dry cough (normal person cough). I looked up the spots online.

She is located in Holliston, MA.
