As an "oldie" with CF that has been lurking on this website I have decided to post and hopefully offer some helpful and encouraging advice that comes with being 59 years old. This is an unbelievable forum that seems to cover every range of CF as far as the actual disease and emotions that go with it. It's encouraging for me to see others with CF that are also older and I feel very fortunate to have made it over so many hurdles to get to where I am. It's only been possible through a great support group of my wife (for 36 years). wonderful family members and a fantastic medical team.
This site gives me a much clearer picture of what to expect and I think is is very helpful to relate directly to others with CF. I can assure you that the doctors are doing their best but can't always relate to what's going on. Hopefully my story can offer encouragement for those that feel they are living against the clock. I was told at one time that I probably would not make it to 30 years old. Then it was 40. Later that was 50 and now I'm looking forward to 60. Don't always believe the statistics!! Everyone is different.
Well, I meant to make this brief so I'll bring this to a close.
Good health to everyone.
Jim
